Join Mark Collins '83 in an open discussion about his experience at Columbia Business School, his career trajectory, and career advice.
Following CBS, Mark Collins joined First Boston in 1983 working in corporate finance. In 1989, he left for the The U.S. Treasury to assist on international debt restructuring. Mark then coordinated international policy within the Department before serving as U.S. Director to the World Bank. After the World Bank, he advised U.S. corporations on emerging market projects and consulted with the International Finance Corporation in broadening US syndications and launching emerging market private equity funds. In 1995, he switched gears to build a private equity business within start up investment firm, Brown Advisory. Today, the firm manages over $85 billion. Mark Collins serves as chariman of a family business; trustee for several family offices; director of Brown Brothers mutual funds and a venture partner with a direct secondary fund. In the health care arena, he is director of a services company - PinnacleCare International. In the non profit realm, Mark is on The Nature Conservancy’s national council. Previously, he chaired TNC’s Maryland chapter and engaged internationally including establishing the China Global Fund with Chinese business leaders. On the educational front, he is involved with Baltimore’s Living Classrooms focused on experiential education and workforce development.
