MMA x AI Club Present: Fireside Chat with Pouya Shahbazian (Staircase Studios AI CEO/Founder)

Staircase Studios AI is a film, television, and gaming studio that is aiming to combine the expertise of Hollywood screenwriters, actors, and talent with AI specialists who use their proprietary AI-enabled workflow in order to make movies and television series at a fraction of the cost of traditional Hollywood budgets. Helmed by Pouya Shahbazian (producer of the Divergent franchise), the venture aims to produce more than 30 projects in the next 3-4 years at budgets under $500,000.

Staircase has acquired IP and a number of scripts that have circulated in the industry, including nearly 20 that appeared on the annual Black List over the past decade. The company’s debut feature, The Woman with Red Hair, derives from Michael Schatz’s 2016 Black List script.
