U.S. domestic and international economic policy is in flux, with major departures from the global economic order established after World War II, changes that are likely to have significant impacts on business. As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary in 2026, the year also marks the 250th anniversary of The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith, whose ideas have profoundly shaped U.S. economic policy since the nation’s founding. Glenn Hubbard and Tano Santos will explore whether a “Project 2026” can draw on Smith’s ideas to craft a renewed policy toward business, one that restores broad public support for the market economy. During this talk, they will introduce concepts from their upcoming MBA class, Modern Political Economy.

This in-person event will be held at Columbia Business School in Cooperman Commons. You must present a Columbia University or government-issued ID that matches the name used on your registration to enter. Lunch will be provided for registered guests following the talk, while supplies last.
