Julien De Wilde

Julien De Wilde, who was born in 1944, obtained an engineering degree from the Catholic University of Leuven, in Belgium. From 1969 onwards he held various managerial positions at Texaco, and in 1986 he was appointed as a member of the European Management Board of Texaco in New York. In 1988 he became head of the Recticel research and business development centre, before joining the Executive Committee of Alcatel-Bell a year later, where he was responsible for strategy and general services. From 1995 until 1998, Julien De Wilde was the CEO of Alcatel-Bell and from 1999 until 2002 Executive Vice-President and member of the Executive Committee of Alcatel in Paris, with responsibility for Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, India and Africa. He was CEO of the Bekaert Groep from 1 July 2002 until May 2006. Julien De Wilde is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors of Agfa Gevaert and Nyrstar, and a member of the Board of Directors at KBC Bank and Telenet.
