Session Description
Cluster Q invites you to "Breaking the Binary: Embracing the Gender Expansive Community [PPIL]" a 1-hour interactive workshop led by GET PHLUID, the leader in LGBTQIA+ diversity, equity, and inclusion training. The purpose of this workshop is for participants to gain a foundational understanding of some of the key terms and concepts related to the LGBTQIA+ community, specifically the transgender and gender-nonconforming community. Participants will be introduced to GET Phluid's comprehensive gender-expansive training program and will leave with skills and knowledge to begin implementing inclusive initiatives, creating affirming spaces in the workplace for the entire LGBTQIA+ community, specifically transgender and gender non-conforming individuals. This introductory training will be led by Rae Lindsay (They/Them/Theirs), who will educate and inspire, exercising their deep experience in this space and leveraging their own transgender and gender non-conforming experiences.

OBJECTIVES
Participants will:

  • Deconstruct the gender and sex binaries and associated social constructs and norms
  • Examine and distinguish the concepts of sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression
  • Learn LGBTQIA+ terminology and concepts
  • Deconstruct myths and stereotypes about transgender and gender-nonconforming people
