STUDENTS

Full-Time MBA, Executive MBA, and MS Columbia Business School students are enrolled in the Phillips Pathway for Inclusive Leadership (PPIL) Program. Learn more about how PPIL is structured for each student population.

PPIL Requirements

Executive MBA Students: All students must participate in a total of FOUR (4) PPIL sessions and submit a post-event reflection form after each session. Submission deadlines vary per term, students should check their CampusGroups Checklist for the official deadline.

Program Exemptions: Students can request to be exempt from the PPIL requirement by semester, if their status meets the following criteria: leave of absence, studying abroad through the Chazen Institute, medical absence, dual-degree students not in CBS residency, and stretch students. To request an exemption, students should email ppil@gsb.columbia.edu.

Executive MBA Student Track (Saturday)

The EMBA-Saturday student PPIL track offers four structured PPIL sessions during mandatory residence weekends. In total, students participate in four (4) PPIL sessions throughout their time in the Executive MBA Program.

PPIL Session 1-Orientation Workshop

Students attend their orientation session which includes an introduction the PPIL Program, and their first PPIL workshop. Students must submit a reflection form after the event.

PPIL Session 2- Spring Residence Weekend

During Spring Residence weekend, students attend their second PPIL workshop and submit a reflection form after the event.

PPIL Session 3-Fall Residence Weekend

During Fall Residence weekend, students attend their third PPIL workshop and submit a reflection form after the event.

PPIL Session 4-Spring Residence Weekend

In their final term, students attend Spring Residence weekend and their fourth PPIL workshop and submit a reflection form after the event.

Executive MBA Student Track (Fri/Sat)

The EMBA-Friday/Saturday student PPIL track offers three structured PPIL sessions during mandatory residence weekends and one elective session. In total, students participate in four (4) PPIL sessions throughout their time in the Executive MBA Program.

PPIL Session 4-Final Academic Year

In their final year, students attend an event of their choice from the PPIL Calendar and submit a reflection form after the event.

Full-Time MBA Student Track

The Full-Time MBA student PPIL track offers students the opportunity to elect one event per semester to attend from the PPIL calendar. In total, students participate in four (4) PPIL sessions throughout their time in the Full-Time MBA Program.

PPIL Session 1-Fall Semester

Students may select one (1) program during the Fall semester to attend and submit a post-event reflection form.

PPIL Session 2- Spring Semester

Students may select one (1) program during the Spring semester to attend and submit a post-event reflection form.

PPIL Session 3-Fall Semester

Students are invited to attend "Lead 2.0" as their signature PPIL event OR may select one (1) program during the Fall semester to attend and submit a post-event reflection form.

PPIL Session 4-Spring Semester

Students may select one (1) program during the Spring semester to attend and submit a post-event reflection form.

MS Student Track

The MS student PPIL track offers students the opportunity to kickoff their experience at Orientation and then, elect one event per semester to attend from the PPIL calendar. In total, students participate in three (3) PPIL sessions throughout their time in the MS program.

PPIL Session 1-Fall Semester

Students attend their orientation session which includes an introduction the PPIL Program, and their first PPIL workshop. Students must submit a reflection form after the event.

PPIL Session 2- Spring Semester

Students may select one (1) program during the Fall and Spring semesters to attend and submit a post-event reflection form.

PPIL Session 3-Fall Semester

Students may select one (1) program during the Fall and Spring semesters to attend and submit a post-event reflection form.

CampusGroups Checklist

The PPIL Checklist on CampusGroups tracks student attendance, hosts the post-event reflection form, and allows to review progress to completion with the program on a semester basis. Students can access this checklist by:

2. Reviewing the Navigation Menu on the left-hand side

3. Clicking on "My Checklists"
